iOS 8 beta joins 7.1.2 release window

The iOS 7.1.2 update looks set to release moments before a beta version of iOS 8 that normally lands on the developer portal right after Apple’s WWDC keynote address. This year, iOS 8 beta 1 will have a release date on June 2-3 and we’d expect the next public update to launch before this date.

If iOS 7.1.2 is to release before the first iOS 8 beta, then that gives us a window of just 8-9 days. We’ve seen an increase in hits from iOS users running version 7.1.2 in the last couple of weeks within our server logs, so this would normally explain testing has started internally and the update will release imminently.

Apple’s focus will be OS X 10.10 and iOS 8 still – we heard a few rumors over the past couple of months that suggested Apple has pulled resources to focus on OS X 10.10 rather than iOS 8, and this led to fans believing the WWDC 2014 keynote will not feature iOS 8. Our sources confirm iOS 8 will be featured heavily within the 2 hour keynote and Apple’s own press release from last month backs this up. That press information talks about “the future of iOS and OS X”, so our readers should expect a detailed preview of both the mobile and desktop OS.

What new features do you hope to see when developers start to reveal iOS 8 beta details? How can iOS 8 improve on iOS 7 in your opinion? Product Reviews very own developer will also be sharing details with us the moment the beta 1 download is live, so keep connected to PR for the news as it breaks.
