iOS 8 beta 5 won’t fix app crashing

Each time Apple brings out a new beta version for iOS 8 new features are added, along with several bug fixes as well. The most recent update is proof of this, but before you get too excited, iOS 8 beta 5 won’t fix apps crashing. Every year this happens, and each time we remind our readers that it is down to third-party app developers to resolve such issues.

However, Apple will not allow these third-party app developers to work on making iOS 8 compatible apps until closer to its public release. These developers will have to work hard in order to allow these apps for iOS to be submitted, which is one of the reasons why it often takes a few days or even weeks after the new mobile OS is released before you start to see updates appear for such apps.

Not all apps crash in iOS 8, as Cartoon HD worked fine on the beta version at that time before it was taken down, which proves that many apps are fine. However, a recent visit to Diggerland proved to be a bit of a pain for our in-house developer, as he downloaded the Diggerland app while out for the day and found that it hangs on the menu screens. He first assumed it was an issue with the app as a whole, but worked fine on his other iPhone running iOS 7.

Our developer also noticed that TV streaming apps also have issues with iOS 8, such as BBC. A quick search on Twitter will reveal just how much of an issue this is, as there does seem to be several apps crashing on devices running the latest beta version of iOS 8. We have embedded these tweets above for some of the apps affected, but if you know of anymore, then please inform our readers below.

The iOS 8 beta 5 download should go live next Monday, which is August 5th, although this is only based on the current release cycle. Apple do have issues from time-to-time, and so we will just have to watch this space, just until our developer informs us.
