Apple’s iOS 7 Gold Master release date is all but confirmed after a long gap without any confirmation that has even seen invites sent out for an iPhone event. It has been a few weeks now since we saw beta 6 and there has been no word on beta 7, so this silence has pretty much nailed the iOS 7 Gold Master launch date.
Only a couple of days ago we touched on the likelihood of an iOS 7 Gold Master launching on one of two Tuesday’s, which included September 3rd or the 10th. Now that the first date has come and gone without any download, words from Apple, or in fact anything at all it seems obvious when developers will get their next software update.
The iOS 7 Gold Master will release next Tuesday, well this is our opinion at least based on Apple’s love for Tuesday along with the information from previous rumors suggesting partners and employees will be hands-on with iOS 7 GM from Sept 5th.
We might even see some details leak tomorrow or by the weekend in regard to this expectation. If that also happens, then everything would be pretty much as solid as it gets other than Apple delivering the news.
Some developers hate waiting — we have seen a number of comments on our previous posts that are either developers testing iOS 7 beta 6, or maybe some users getting hold of the beta software by other methods, but in either case it seems that the lack of updates is just too much for some people.
There are problems still as we would expect with any beta software, but at this stage we wouldn’t expect a native Messages app to be crashing on iPhone 5 and 4S but our in-house developer reports it does randomly. Product Reviews readers have also confirmed this problem along with a number of other issues found in beta 6.
Comments along the lines of “still no iOS 7 GM announcement hurry up Apple” are common. Another said, “invites for the event have been sent but no word on iOS 7 Gold Master, please Apple speak up”.
Bottom-line: now that a few weeks have past and the only Tuesday left is event day, you can expect iOS 7 Gold Master to see a release date on September 10 just like we have seen in the past.
