Last week Alan Ng reported that there was confirmation of a untethered jailbreak for iOS 4.3.1, we can now tell you that iOS 4.3.1 Jailbreak exploit is live: However, we have to warn you that it is not for the for iPad 2 just yet — but we would assume that the team behind this will be working at making it possible.
The untethered jailbreak, which is available on both Redsn0w and PwnageTool works on a number of other iOS devices, such as the current iPhone 4 and the 3GS, as well as the original iPad and the current and previous iPod Touch. For those of you interested, this new exploit was found by Stefan Esser, who is considered both a iPhone hacker and security expert.
iOS 4.3.1 was first jailbroken last week, but it was only limited to a tethered boot, so this is the first untethered version of the up-to-date iOS. Thankfully Redmond Pie has an informative 6-step how to guide, but as always you do this at your own risk. Please make certain that you know what you are doing before you attempt to jailbreak your iPhone, iPad or iPod Touch.
Firstly make certain that your iOS device has the latest version running, but you should all know that one by now. As this jailbreak is so new we have no reports of any problems, but if you have given it a try then we would be pleased to know if you have experienced any issues?
