iOS 4.2 Update: Reason for Delay and Video Proof

Following on from our earlier report which brought you the disappointing news about iOS 4.2 being delayed, we now have specific details regarding the reason for the delay, as well as a related video to show you.

As we told you before, iOS 4.2 has been delayed due to a suspected problem with the WiFi connection feature on the iPad, and we’ve found an article over at MacStories which has a lot more details on this.

According to them, the iPad has a problem where it will keep disconnecting from a local WiFi network after a few minutes of successfully connecting to it. This is obviously a pretty big deal, and explains why Apple are holding back from releasing iOS 4.2 to the public until it is sorted out for good.

We told you that the update is now thought to be coming on Tuesday 16th November – we’ll let you know if that changes over the weekend. In the meantime, check out the video below which shows the WiFi problem at first hand.

Well, I am loosing confidence. Had issues with my 3GS and ios 4.1. why should I go to 4.2???
Also, why should I get an iPhone 4? I think I'll skip 4 and get whatever next hardware is.
My 3GS is first iPhone for me, and was july '09.

Wow. What are people thinking? Apple never announced that the update would be available on November 12. It was all just unfounded rumors. November, that's when it will be released.

My 32 Gb wifi ipad drops or is very temperamental with my mifi connection which is irritating enough.

I have just downloaded the new iTunes and OSX update and still no iPad OS4

Tell me if I’m wrong, But dosent iTunes check

for an update when you plug in your iPad, and

if there isn’t one its always 7days a week till it will

check again so for people to say that it

must be this date because iTunes says it’ll check

again on the 12th is rubbish.

Delay? Can someone please post the announcement from Apple that it was ever meant to be today. The only thing I can find is rumours based on somebody's iTunes saying that it would next check for updates on the 11th! Apple have only said that it will be November.
