The release of iOS 4.2 is just around the corner, and it will give iPad owners a much welcome update. Apple is also starting to deploy their iAD network worldwide, following availability restricted to just the UK and North America.
Reports of developers starting to see ad impressions from new locations from around the globe are beginning to surface. This follows the news that Apple plans to open a new office for its expanding iAd team in Manhattan. At the moment staff are working from the office that Quattro Wireless used before they were purchased by Apple.
In the summer they started hiring staff for the “iAd Creative & Strategy team”. It is stated on Apple’s iAd website that “iAd reaches millions of iPhone and iPod touch users around the world.”
Apple also points to the fact that they have more than 160 million iTunes accounts across 23 countries, but doesn’t say if all these can view iAds. Added to this expansion when iOS 4.2 is released, iAd comes to the iPad adding several million potential customers for advertisers to target.
