iOS 10 release time for GM download today

Apple may have informed us as to when this next major iOS upgrade will be taking place, but as ever, they have not really given away too much. Ok, so we know that today we will see the iOS 10 GM download go live, and we already know many of the new features coming. The invites have already arrived for those that are attending the event, and in true tradition, the Gold Master should be released shortly after the Apple keynote, which should also include great insight into the next iPhone.

Each year we are asked what time the new iOS GM version release time will be, and so it’s not surprising that Product Reviews is being asked this very same question, but this time for iOS 10 Gold Master. With the same pattern being followed each year, we already have a pretty good idea as to the time downloads will begin.

iOS 10 compatibility chart

Just like last year, the event is on a Wednesday, a move from the traditional Tuesday. As always, Gold Master arrives directly after the Apple special event each year, or around 2 hours after its start. With this in mind, we have offered an image of the release window for the UK above. Not only that, but the Sept 7 event start time also, which is 6PM GMT. If you would like to know the PST or EST, then just take of 8 hours and 5 hours respectively.

It’s not certain if there will be an iOS 10 beta 9 released before next Wednesday, but we very much doubt that now – although we have seen Apple start to update these betas on a weekly basis now.

As for live streaming, Apple has already confirmed they are to live stream the event, details of which can be seen here.

We suspect that developers will receive iOS 10 GM before 9PM in the UK, 4PM in New York and 1PM in California. September 7 is also the date those iPhone 7 rumors should finally be laid to rest.
