IntoNow is a great new app, available as a free download at iTunes, that allows you to let your friends know what TV programme you are watching. The idea is to make the anti-social act of staying in and watching TV a completely social and shared act. This also works the other way, allowing you to see what your friends are watching too, so you can interact with them about it.
It uses similar technology as you would find in those apps that allow you to identify a song you are listening to, such as SoundHound or Shazam. You simply hold up your iPhone, iPod touch or iPad to your TV, press the green button and within seconds the name of the programme you are watching will be identified. Read cnet’s review of the app for more information about how it works.
Although IntoNow remains another form of social networking, providing a service of no real purpose as such, it aims to target other devices such as Blu-ray players and TVs so as to expand its user availability.
The key features of IntoNow include the ability to have one click access to iTunes, Netflix, and IMDb so you can learn more about the episode. Being able to get future airings and cast information, and great social features like adding new friends from your address book, Twitter or Facebook.
Will you download this app? What do you think of this type of social networking? Let us know.
