Intermatrix U7 tablet shipping fall with Ubuntu OS

Whenever you think of buying yourself a new tablet there are just three mobile operating systems that you think of, Android, iOS and Windows, although the latter is at the bottom of that list. However, later this year there will be another to consider, and that is the Intermatrix U7 tablet, which will run on the Ubuntu OS.

This isn’t going to be the best tablet on the market by a long shot, and by the time Intermatrix release this in the fall of 2013 (October to be more precise) there will be the new iPad 5 to consider. However, this tablet will cater for a different market because it is to come with a 7-inch IPS display.

The hardware for the Intermatrix U7 for the most part seems up to the tasks, which are a Cortex A9 CPU with a clock speed of 1.5GHz, 1GB of RAM and 16GB of storage. There’s also a 2-megapixel camera to the rear and a 0.3-megapixel on the front.

Looking over the hardware you would assume that this would be more than up for the job to run a tablet, but there could be an issue because we are told that it takes at least 2GB or memory to run an Ubuntu tablet, so maybe the hardware specs for the Intermatrix U7 tablet will be updated the closer we get to its eventual release date?

Having looked on the official website, they do say that some of the details are subject to change, so one would presume the memory would be one of the first things to be revised.
