Integration of Google+ Circles for PS3 and Xbox 360

Earlier today we published an article which spoke about the latest system update for the Xbox 360, during this article we briefly mentioned an idea which spoke about how Google+ could integrate with Xbox Live, now after writing another article about FIFA 12’s social element we have thought about things in much more detail and we have to say that Google+ circles could work perfectly with services such as Xbox Live and the PlayStation Network.

As mentioned in our previous post both Xbox Live and PSN currently feature some form of Twitter and Facebook integration, however many think its way too spammy, as lots of people see things they just don’t want to see. As for Twitter integration this also has limitation and boundaries and it doesn’t really fit in with today’s gaming and social networking habbits, so what’s our big idea?

If you have used Google+ you will know that it allows you to section off your contacts into different categories, which Google calls circles, imagine being able to turn on Google+ integration on your Xbox 360 / PS3. We think that this feature could potentially create a circle consisting off all of your gaming buddies, this would create a gaming centric network within your personal Google+ account. This means that when you earn achievements, complete games or do really well in a particular game you can share your accomplishments with the people who actually care. Prior to this other social networks have broadcasted everything to everyone, let’s face it your business contacts, family members, long-lost friends and potential partners do no all want to find out when you have earned an achievement or trophy etc, so circles will really allow you to share gaming-related things with people who really want to see this sort of thing.

We think that initially this idea could work in a very basic way, however once it has become established on consoles, developers could really push things forward. Perhaps when finishing an online game you could press a button to share stats with your fellow gamers, perhaps screenshots and small snippets of video could be uploaded and shared to Google+, the potential is truly massive. Below we have added some example of what sort of things could be automatically shared on Google+ with contacts in your Gaming circles, we feel that this could become fully automated, but people could choose what sort of content is shared and how regularly data is sent to Google+ (my gamertag is JamieP2006, hence why we use it in the examples.

-“JamieP2006 just scored his 1000th goal whilst playing FIFA 12, it was scored by Lionel Messi whilst playing for Barcelona in an exhibition game against Liverpool”

-“JamieP2006 just reached round 65 whilst playing the Shangri La zombies map on Black Ops, he got the most kills whilst playing with +anothergamerhere and +someoneelsehere”

-“JamieP2006 just earned the Campaign Complete: Legendary achievement whilst playing Halo 3”

-“JamieP2006 is looking for Xbox 360 gamers to join him whilst playing co-op on Gears of War 3”

We may look into possibilities in more detail in the future, for now we would like to know your thoughts of possible Google+ integration coming to Xbox Live and PSN, would you use this feature?
