Install Google Wallet on Galaxy Nexus, get free $10 in the process

We have some good news for those of you who are looking to get Google Wallet running on the Galaxy Nexus. Prior to launch, there was considerable uproar amongst Verizon customers when they found out that Google Wallet wouldn’t be supported by the carrier officially, but thanks to some clever tricks it looks like all 4G LTE Galaxy Nexus owners can now get their Google Wallet fix without any problems.

If you are not aware of the Google Wallet storm before the Galaxy Nexus released, basically a lot of Verizon customers were not happy after it was believed that Verizon were blocking Google’s Wallet service in favor of another rival service called IRIS. Verizon has since denied blocking Google Wallet, but the ultimate factor at the end of this story is that Google Wallet remains inaccessible on the Galaxy Nexus at launch.

Luckily for you, the guys over at XDA Forums have saved the day once again, and they have come up with a very simply way of getting Google Wallet running on the Galaxy Nexus. All you need to do is download this file courtesy of Droid-Life, install it and it should work without any problems. The best thing about this method, is that you don’t even need to have a rooted device or have to undergo any zip flashing of any sort. What you will need though is to be running Android 4.0.2, but we expect most of you are already running this version since Google released a launch update for all 4G LTE users.

If everything works to plan, you should have Google Wallet running on your Galaxy Nexus, and wait for it – a free $10 prepaid credit to try out the service as well, with no catch either. Try it out now and let us know how you get on. If it worked for you – let us know what you spent or planning to spend your $10 on.
