i3D iOS app: Uses HCP for glasses-free 3D

Still searching for a glasses-free 3D effect which doesn’t leave you disappointed or broke, then i3D may just interest you. It is a new app for Apple’s iOS devices that uses HCP (Head-Coupled Perspective) to form an effective 3D display.

We recently brought you news of a 52” LCD display that uses glasses-free 3D technology and went on sale in Japan. In that article we explain how manufacturers have struggled to come up with the answer to glasses-free technology in the past.

Also when this type of 3D effect is used it is often limited, where users must be looking at the screen at a certain point from a certain distance etc. that’s where the i3D app is different. The HCP technology that it uses means no matter what angle you look at the display from it will always give a 3D effect.

The app is now available free at iTunes but is only compatible with the 4th generation iPod Touch, iPhone 4 and iPad 2. You can also read more about the app over at TiPb by clicking the link, in the meantime check out the video we have below for a look at the app in action.

Are you impressed with this app?
