HTC reveal first batch of devices to taste Ice Cream Sandwich

Since Google announced the next version of its mobile operating system many users have been left hoping their handset will get the update. Recently we had all the confusion surrounding the LG Optimus 2X with early reports suggesting the device won’t receive Ice Cream Sandwich, and then LG themselves revealing the good news that it would be coming. Today we can tell you that HTC reveals the first batch of devices to get a taste of Ice Cream Sandwich.

Recently we had a report telling you a variety of different handsets that were down to get the new Android operating system, and now HTC have taken to its Facebook page to reveal the devices already lined of for the update. The new HTC Vivid that becomes available today will be upgradeable, and a whole host of other devices will be upgrading early next year.

These include the HTC Sensation, Sensation XL and Sensation XE, HTC Rezound, EVO 3D, Amaze 4G, and HTC EVO Design 4G. The manufacturer has said they are working closely with their carrier partners to get the update out to customers.

HTC also said they are still looking at the rest of its product range to work out which devices will be receiving the update, and promised more updates on device upgrades. The company said previously that it will be upgrading as many handsets as possible.

We recently had a report looking at Android fragmentation and how some handsets quickly become abandoned by some manufacturers. HTC faired pretty well and were found to be the best company to keep its handsets updated. Hopefully with Android 4.0 we will see a quicker rollout of the update, especially compared to Gingerbread which is only just reaching some devices.

Do you have a HTC handset?
