HTC One M8 vs. Galaxy S5 vs. Xperia Z2: Native apps

Three of the hottest Android phones on the market are the HTC One M8, the Samsung Galaxy S5 and the Sony Xperia Z2, all of which also run the latest version of Android KitKat. That is not the only thing they share in common, as all three come pre-installed with native apps, and it is interesting how the three companies go about things.

So if there were ever a HTC One M8 vs. Galaxy S5 vs. Xperia Z2 Native app comparison, how would each handset compare? There might not be a video review that pits these smartphones with each other, but we can include three videos of their native apps, along with detailing what apps are pre-installed.

We recently had a HTC One M8 to review and were overly impressed, and as such gave the S5 a run for its money. As for its native apps, these are color coded, which will change color depending on the theme. You will be pleased that the bloatware is kept to a minimum, which is why the HTC One M8 scores so highly with its software, although it is BlinkFeed that is the icing on the cake.

Galaxy S5 native apps

The Samsung Galaxy S5 is similar to the M8 in the way that it comes with BlinkFeed-like app, it isn’t as good as the real deal, but it is close enough. The native apps are easily accessible thanks to Toolbox, which you can see in the second video below.

Sony’s Xperia Z2 smartphone also comes with its own native apps, there are 59 apps pre-installed, which is a huge number, but it is great how its custom UI doesn’t seem as bloated as the S5.

Xperia Z2 native apps

We said that we would include some videos to help give you a better idea of the native apps installed in each phone, and the first is for the HTC One M8 and runs for 5:21. The second video runs for 3:47 and looks at the Galaxy S5 native apps. Sadly, there is not a video that looks specifically at the Xperia Z2 native apps, but there is an informative review that takes a close look at its apps, which is just as good or even better than a video.

Now that you have watched the videos and read the review, which handset has the edge in terms of native apps, the HTC One M8, the Samsung Galaxy S5 or the Sony Xperia Z2?
