HTC Incredible vs iPhone 4G: What Will Apple Do?

It seems as if the upcoming HTC Incredible has set a new standard for high-end smartphones, therefore I am sure that Apple have taken notice and are perhaps thinking how can the 4th generation iPhone out do the HTC Incredible.

Currently Apple’s flagship smartphone is the iPhone 3GS, this handset features an ARM Cortex-A8 processor however instead of running at its standard clock speed of 833MHz it has been under-clocked to 600 MHz it also features 256MB of RAM.

The iPhone features a 3.5 inch capacitive touchscreen display which supports a resolution of 320×480, a 3.2 megapixel camera featuring auto focus, this camera has the ability to capture video at 640×480 at 30 fps.

The iPhone 3GS is available in two models, these models feature either 16GB or 32GB internal storage, however there is no memory card slot for removable storage.

Full specifications for the HTC Incredible are currently unknown, however we do know that it should feature a 1GHz Snapdragon processor which will apparently be under-clocked to 768Mhz, along with a 3.5-3.7 inch capacitive touchscreen display which is rumored to support a resolution of 480 x 800.

Other rumored specifications include 320MB of RAM, an 8 megapixel camera featuring auto focus and dual LED flash, along with a microSD memory card slot and WiFi b/g connectivity. Also the Incredible should run Android 2.1 and will probably see an update to Android 2.5.

Now that we have listed the specifications for the iPhone 3GS and the HTC Incredible it gives you an idea as to what Apple should be aiming for with their iPhone 4G, personally I feel that in terms of software and innovations Apple’s iPhone OS is more then suitable for the iPhone 4G, however the hardware in my opinion needs to be seriously overhauled.

I believe that Apple need a processor which has a clock speed of at least 800MHz (when under-clocked) along with 384 MB of RAM, it should also feature a camera with a flash, I believe that around 8 mega-pixels should be suitable, as for screen size I feel that 3.5 inches is big enough, perhaps they should vastly improve the screen’s resolution.

Other things that I feel Apple should throw in include 802.11n WiFi connectivity, and a removable battery, also a removable storage option could prove to be popular for users with important data.

What do you think the iPhone 4G needs to feature to compete with the high-end smartphones of today?
