Earlier this week we informed you that Sprint may be bringing a surprise to their customers at CES 2012 in the form of a 4G supported Samsung Galaxy Note. Now we have further exciting news regarding HTC and their highly anticipated quad-core smartphones.
It has been a while since we last heard any info on the possibility of HTC bringing quad-core powered smartphones to the market in 2012, but we’re pleased to say that we now have a small update to give you.
Unfortuntely, it doesn’t look like we will be seeing the rumored quad-core HTC Edge at next week’s Consumer Electronics Show, as a report published by the Commercial Times claims that the quad-core Tegra 3 processor that will feature on the device is not quite ready to be shown on smartphones yet. However, we have heard that HTC’s quad-core devices will be ready in time for a public unveiling at the Mobile World Congress, which takes place in February.
It may be seen as a slight disappoint that there may not be any quad-core phones on show at the event next week, but we have a feeling that there will be a healthy lineup of new and exciting 4G smartphones and tablets to keep you busy in the meantime. Don’t expect to see Apple’s iPad 3 or ‘HDTV’ products though, as we told you yesterday that is it highly unlikely that Apple would choose to reveal both products at a different event, other than the company’s own infamous events.
How excited are you about seeing the first official details on the HTC Edge? Smartphones are still releasing in today’s market with dual-core processors, but the stakes will well and truly become a whole lot bigger as soon as the juggernaut HTC Edge arrives with a quad-core 1.5Ghz processor. Will any other smartphone be able to cope with this?
