HTC Desire: Updated with Android 2.2 Froyo Port

We have some great news for HTC Desire owners now, as it looks like you won’t have to keep on waiting for the official update to Android 2.2 Froyo. Thanks to modder udK_dev, a complete Froyo port has been successful on the Desire, it is available to download now.

As reported from Engadget, this port is still unofficial, but it seems as if it is almost an exact build of the official version made available by Google.

You’ll be able to download it over at XDA-Developers, where you’ll also find full instructions and a step-by-step guide to install. Notable changes include the lack of wallpaper support and some slight issues with geolocalization, but the port has also enabled access to 720p video recording – so not too bad at all.

Other than that, everything else is working fine. Download it at the link above and let us know how you get on. Tell us if the port works fine for you or not.
