You may remember last month we revealed that HTC Desire owners should get Android 2.3 Gingerbread sometime in May, now it has been brought to our attention that the official Android Gingerbread ROM has leaked and is available to download.
If you understand the risks associated with installing a ROM which claims to be official you can download it here, it is said to feature WWE (worldwide English), we are not sure if this differs much to standard English, therefore it may be worth waiting for HTC to release the update officially.
Chances are carriers will begin rolling out the update over-the-air within the next month or so, once installed you should notice an improved user interface, better copy and paste functionality and an easier-to-use soft keyboard. On compliant devices Gingerbread would also allow for NFC, however the Desire’s internals do not allow for this functionality.
If you are brave enough to download and install this leaked ROM let us know how it went in the comments section below, did you notice any other changes which people will glad to see? Would you recommend this version to others?
