At the end of last month there were concerns that the HP Slate 7 UK release date was going to be in June, but these were unjust, as the 7-inch tablet has now appeared on the HP UK Store. You can order yours now, with them being made available from May 1, 2013.
The HP Slate 7 UK price is £129, which is reasonable for a 7-inch tablet with a 1,024 x 600 resolution display, dual-core A9 CPU, 1GB of RAM and Android Jelly Bean. The HP Slate 7 US price equivalent would be $200 with taxes, but no doubt this will be cheaper because we know how much extra people have to pay for their consumer electronics in the UK when compared to their US counterparts.
The May release of the Slate 7 in the UK is in line with what HP originally forecast, which is why those concerns of a delay were unjust. We still have no idea of the HP Slate 7 US availability, but the US Store still says April. Let’s not worry too much just yet, as there is still plenty of time for the device to become available in the days we have left in April.
HP has made things rather difficult for those of you looking for a new 7-inch tablet, as the Slate 7 is £30 less than the Nexus 7, but £30 more expensive than the Acer B1, so which of the three will you choose? It’s worth noting that some of the technology inside the Slate 7 is getting on a bit now, so maybe it will not be long before the tablet comes down in price, maybe below £100
It’s also worth remembering the Nexus 7 sequel could be announced next month during Google I/O.
