HP Pavilion dm4x Specs and Price – No USB 3.0

HP’s new laptop named the HP Pavilion dm4x has been made available to order from the HP site, here you can find the price of a standard HP Pavilion laptop and also full specifications. Today we will run you through some of the important bits that may interest you about this release from HP.

The standard model comes with Windows 7 Home Premium, 4GB DDR3 RAM (current offer upgrades this to 6GB for free), Radeon HD 6470M (1GB), if this doesn’t quite cut it for you, you can spend more to get more RAM and a faster CPU, there are no graphics card options.

As standard you get a 500GB 5400RPM HDD which features the HP ProtectSmart hard drive protection, as you would expect you can upgrade this HDD size for extra money. In terms of battery life it depends on the specs you choose, the standard model should get 8 hours of juice from the 6-Cell Lithium-ion battery. Other specs worth mentioning include HDMI-out, VGA-out, Gigabit Ethernet, a memory card reader, a HP TrueVision HD webcam, WiFi b/g/n and a DVD rewriter.

There are a couple of popular things missing from this model, firstly there are no USB 3.0 ports and also there is no optional Blu-ray drive, these are not necessities for everyone, however we can’t recommend buying any notebook in 2011 which doesn’t feature USB 3.0 ports.

The laptop has a nice steel finnish and certainly looks very sophisticated for a business environment. The standard model will cost you $729.99 without any upgradeS. What is your opinion on the standard model? Are you interested in buying this or will you think about adding some extras onto the package? Order yours here.
