Hewlett Packard has released a new surprise budget tablet relatively out of the blue, introducing the HP 8. The affordable Android tab features reasonable specs but for a very affordable price, coming in at just $169.99 with free shipping in the US.
The low cost device does not try anything fancy with its simple design and low profile hardware, acting as an option to tablet hunters with a tight budget. The HP 8 features a 1024 x 768 7.85 inch diagonal IPS multitouch display, an Allwinner Quad-Core A31s processor, 1 GB or RAM and 16 GB of internal storage.
The 8 inch device is powered by Android 4.4.2 Jelly Bean, featuring a 3800 mAh battery which claims to offer 7 hours of power. The HP 8 includes all of the connectivity bells and whistles which you would expect such as Wi-Fi, audio port, stereo speakers and a Micro SD slot which can increase memory to 32 GB.
The camera of the HP 8 is not ideal with only 2 megapixels on the rear with fixed focus and a 0.3 megapixel option on the front. The Android device does come packed with some bonus content by way of apps however, with 25 GB of free cloud storage offered as well as many on board Google and HP services included in box to give customers more value.
The HP 8 is a low spec Android device with an affordable low price which will appeal to some consumers looking for a budget option in the 8 inch section of the market. This tablet is not going to win any awards for innovation or excellence but it has been described as a reliable and trust worth product from a brand you can trust.
Will you be giving the HP 8 a chance or are there better devices to put your $170 towards?
