How did the leaked iPhone 4G happen?

We have a very interesting article for you to read now, which will bring you up to speed on all of the latest rumors surrounding the iPhone 4G device, supposedly obtained by Gizmodo today.

Over at Cnet, they have asked the question: How did this happen? They ask this, simply because the whole situation which gathered speed over the weekend courtesy of Engadget, is rather ‘strange’ – for a number of reasons.

They explain how it is odd that both Engadget and Gizmodo state different locations (San Jose and Redwood City) that the device came from, although we still don’t have exact details on how Gizmodo obtained the device. Rumors are that the tech blog purchased the device from the ‘bar’ and then proceeded to review every single aspect that you see up on their website.

However, another possible conclusion to this story, is that Apple actually performed this stunt on purpose – in order to engage public interest and gather opinions of the prototype device, so they could gain customer feedback before WWDC lands.

Then again, it is unlikely for Apple to participate in such a bold stunt, as the company never did this with older versions of the iPhone. The last bit of information to reveal comes from Daring Fireball’s John Gruber, who reveals that Apple consider this prototype to be ‘stolen’, rather than lost.

What are your thoughts on this? Read the full article over at Cnet and then have your say.
