We have been sent a set of Able Planet PS500MM with LINX technology to review. The headphones, which offer True Fidelity technology, are very lightweight, and some would be put off by that, as they fear that the audio quality would not be that great. We did not have any fears of this though, as we have had experience with Able Planet headsets in the past.
These PS500MM are two products in one, the first is optimal communication and the second is superb music quality. These headphones have been designed for those who like to chat online, or those who love to listen to music or play games. With the aid of Award Winning LINX AUDIO technology, the PS500MM is sure to perform well.
The design of the packaging is very pleasing and simple; although ours came to us all beat up. We had to make certain that the headset was not damaged. The packaging is nice, but we had to destroy the packaging to get to the device. When we took the headphones in our hand, we noticed just how light they were, but we did notice that the cushioning on the headphones were not as soft as we had hoped. The headset is adjustable for all head sizes, and the microphone is flexible, allowing you to move it away when not in use.
Upon placing the headphones on my head, the pads on the earpiece were not as bad as I had first thought they seemed very comfortable. I first tried out the Able Planet PS500MM on Skype, and they performed very well, previous handsets have often produced a hissing noise, but not with these, they were crisp. There is a mute button as well as a volume level, offering you total control when you are in the middle of a conversation.
The real reason for the Able Planet PS500MM is by listening to music. I decided to plug the device into my iPhone 3G S and then select the iPod but what song should I choose, I went for a Black Eyed Peas song.
I thought that I would have the volume low at first; I could already tell that the headphones want more volume as the sound is truly amazing, so we then turned them up louder, the sound was still well and the bass certainly kicked up another level. The Able Planet PS500MM offers sound reproduction in all levels; it is not all about the bass here.
It was only when we turned the volume up to the max that the headphones started to struggle this was when i decided to plug the headphones into my laptop, as we then had equalizer settings, now things are much better as the bass was not more controllable.
In closing the Able Planet PS500MM are more than capable headphones, but the only downside is that they do not cancel out the outside noise. Other than that, we were thoroughly impressed.
