Halo: Reach – Breaks Xbox Live Online Play Record

It has recently been revealed that Halo: Reach has broke Xbox Live’s online play record, this was revealed on Bungie’s Twitter page.

At the moment no official statistics have been revealed, however we are hearing that Reach made $200 million in its first day and topped software sales charts in many different countries.

This is undoubtedly the biggest launch since Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, this game made $310 million in the US and UK in its first day, however this was split across three consoles, whereas Halo: Reach is only for Xbox 360.

Since its release Modern Warfare 2 has pretty much topped Xbox Live statistics in terms of unique users every week (see here), therefore it will be interesting to see how Halo: Reach affects its dominance.

It will be interesting to see if Black Ops re-breaks this record when it comes out in November, do you think it will?
