After a few months of silence, it’s now time to start talking about Half Life 3 again. The game which PC users have been dreaming about for an eternity could be getting closer and closer, with new information revealed this week. Valve may be trying to keep everything a secret, but the puzzle is now starting to form with Half Life 3 possibly becoming one of the first releases for the Steam Machines in 2014.
Getting straight to the point, Valve has now officially trademarked Half Life 3 in Europe. The infamous but still very elusive game has avoided spotlight for so many years, but now it looks like Valve will have to come up with some solid answers very soon.
The developer and publisher cannot hide away from this one, with this Patent and Trademark website confirming that Valve made everything official on September 29. Valve has yet to file the same trademark with the relevant authorities in the US, but we have a feeling it will happen sooner rather than later.
As the internet social media boards now go into overdrive, it’s worth bearing in mind that the Half Life 3 trademark has occurred almost instantly after Valve wrapped up their announcements regarding Steam Machines, the exciting Linux-based SteamOS and of course the haptics-fueled Steam controllers.
You can run, but you can’t hide ValveImagine if Valve take to the stage in 2014 at a private event and announce that Half Life 3 is going to be the first game to run on SteamOS and Steam Machines – with the added bonus of living room support as well as the regular PC crowd.
This game alone could be very damaging to Sony and Microsoft’s own prospects with their next-gen consoles so it will be no secret that all eyes will be on what Valve do next.
