GTA V underwater exploration teased

Rockstar may be enjoying the festive holiday period like everybody else, but they haven’t forgotten about their eager GTA V fanbase who are still hungry for some fresh news from the developer. It has been a while since we had the major magazine reveal, but now Rockstar has decided to release some brand new screenshots for the game, once again showing off some of the underwater exploration features that will be available and more importantly – the confirmation that players will be able to make use of a submarine to really explore the depths of GTA like never before.

It’s not the first time that underwater exploration in GTA V has been mentioned. We first told you briefly about this in an article at the beginning of November, when Rockstar dropped the bombshell and confirmed that the GTA V world will be bigger than GTA IV, Red Dead Redemption and San Andreas combined – a feat that many gamers still can’t get their head around yet.

On Christmas Day, Rockstar took the time out of their celebrations to upload no fewer than five brand new screenshots that haven’t been seen before. We get an amazing close up of Trevor inside a jet with a sunset backdrop, while Rockstar also used a screenshot to confirm that some kinds of wildlife will be available in the game – on this occasion sharks as you can see in one of the fantastic new images. The graphics for the water effects looks impressive to say the least.

The highlight of the new images though and probably the big talking point is the submarine reveal – a yellow themed vehicle which looks pretty slick from the outlook. It will be interesting to see if Rockstar will allow for unlimited travel in the submarine at any time, or if they will restrict it for certain missions in single player only – everyone will obviously be hoping for the latter.

Now that sharks are in the game, does that pave the way for other creatures to be in the game? We’d love it if we were suddenly greeted by a deer or cow crossing the road while speeding through a country passage. Rockstar surely has ideas to put other creatures in the game aside from just sharks, we just hope that they put some focus in this area too to make it as realistic as possible.

What are your thoughts on the submarine shot? Are you excited by the idea of being able to navigate past sharks underwater? What other animals and mammals would you like to see in GTA 5?
