GTA V release date shenanigans without merit

We haven’t heard any official news on GTA V for a good while now and it looks like some corners of the internet are starting to get itchy fingers. A new release date rumor has been posted online, suggesting that the game will be out at the end of March on a weekend, a date that was supposedly revealed via a Microsoft confirmation email upon pre-order.

It goes without saying that you should never really read too much into GTA V release dates, as there seems to be a new date posted every single week, just to start a discussion point as we wait for official news from Rockstar. The date in question is March 24 and is already highly unlikely since this falls on a Sunday.

Nintendo may release some of their big guns traditionally on a Sunday, but we all know that GTA V isn’t coming to the Wii U yet so we doubt that Rockstar will choose a Sunday to drop GTA V on the PS3 and Xbox 360. Whether it is related or not, it may be worth mentioning that March 24, falls two days behind Amazon’s supposed release date for the game, which they apparently revealed in another pre-order confirmation as March 26.

Looking on Rockstar’s official Newswire, it’s sad to see no GTA V related news whatsoever, but the developer is in the midst of releasing GTA Vice City on the PlayStation Network, so that’s good for fans who have yet to play that game. Rockstar has said that GTA V will be out in Spring and we are approaching this period very soon.

An official release date surely has to come soon doesn’t it? Perhaps they will drop GTA V trailer 3 and finally unveil a date at the end. Let us know your thoughts on the possibility of Rockstar releasing GTA V on a Sunday as the latest rumor suggests.
