GTA V pre-order for pennies with hilarious extras

We can expect to see a monumental retailer price war kick off as soon as the highly anticipated GTA V release date approaches. Supermarkets and retailers will inevitably do battle with one another to offer you the best price for the game, but we’ve heard how one popular UK supermarket chain had already kicked off the proceedings early.

If you have already started to shop online for the best GTA V prices, you may have heard about the Tesco £30 deal, which was the talk of messaging boards through the night. A coupon code had been available for a limited time, claiming to offer a £10 discount, off the price of Tesco’s already great GTA V pre-order of £39.99.

Initially, the code was available for usage for many people, who were able to pre-order GTA V in the UK for £30 with free delivery and no catch, by using the coupon code ‘TDX-RJMW’. The plot then thickened when Tesco realized the shenanigans that was going on and changed their pre-order slightly by adding 1p to the offer.

This then meant that eagled eyed shoppers had to purchase a second item in order to still use the £10 coupon code, but this didn’t stop many gamers who began a frantic search through Tesco’s databases to find the cheapest items available. Some of the hilarious options that we have heard were chosen, were a single tub of Playdoh, which currently sells on Tesco for £0.80. Some other choices that gamers opted for were a little more practical, such as a Tesco 9pc hex key set for £0.49 and a Sony Ericsson charger for £1.

If you were one of these shoppers deploying these very tactics last night, well done indeed – we take our hats off to you for a glorious piece of bargain hunting. Let us know what secondary item you picked up from Tesco to get the £10 off, and if your order has been processed for around £31 with free delivery.

It’s hard to see that price being beaten – £30-35 for undoubtedly one of the biggest games of 2013 is a great steal. Have you seen GTA V up for pre-order with a price close to matching this? No doubt that we’ll still see some retailers trying to sell the game for £50 plus. Our advice to you is to keep a close eye out for similar deals like this as you never know when the next coupon code will become available.

It’s worth noting that Tesco are still offering 500 free Clubcard points for all GTA V pre-orders, so you may want to get the game from their site just for that. Let us know if you have spotted any other great deals for GTA V – it’s going to be a fun roller coaster next Spring, that’s for sure.

if you own a clubcard you also get an extra 500 points with the pre order, which is worth at least £5 when the vouchers come through, although there is the potential to double up the voucher to £10, so that brings the it to the £21 – £26 range…..
