GTA V features implemented into GTA IV mod

The wait for GTA V continues this week, and with it yet more attempts by devoted fans to pass the time until that magical September 17 release date arrives. Earlier this week we showed you a brand new character to the game called Nervous Ron, but now we have some interesting developments that have been made in the GTA IV modding scene to tell you about.

It’s also yet another precious reminder of just how awesome the PC version of GTA V is going to become once Rockstar finally confirms it. GTA IV is a game that released back in 2008, but today we still see a very healthy modding scene with GTA V fanatics still trying to find ways to make the game more enjoyable.

We have a new example of that devotion to show you now, with the release of the ‘character switching mod’ for GTA IV. As most of you should know by now, one of the biggest new features of GTA V, is the ability to instantly switch between the three main protagonists of the game – Michael, Franklin and Trevor, regardless of whatever situation you happen to be in.

GTA IV PC owners can now get a taste of this very feature, thanks to Julio NIB and the GTA X Scripting team. Install this little baby and you’ll then be able to play through GTA IV and switch between Niko, Johnny Klebitz from The Lost and Damned, and also Luis Lopez from The Ballad of Gay Tony.

It was a very ambitious project, but you can already see how well it works by checking out the preview gameplay below. Forgive any early bugs you may see, as the mod has only just become available. If anything though, this mod alone should give you a little indication of the amazing add-on content that will be available once GTA V is out on PC.

Will you be trying out the character switch mod for GTA IV while you wait for GTA V? You can download it here.
