Greenpois0n: Linux Version Live – Mac Update, Still No Download

Yesterday the Chronic Dev Team released the Greenpois0n jailbreak for iOS 4.1, up until now only a Windows version was live, however if you head over to you will see that there is now a Linux version live.

Sadly there is still no Mac version available, it seems as if the Dev Team are experiencing problems with this release, however are still very keen to release it.

23 hours ago there was a tweet on the ChronicDevTeam’s Twitter feed which read “Mac release is being worked on. Some technical difficulties must be resolved”, soon after they also tweeted “We have no ETA for the Mac release besides “soon”. Bad things seem to happen when we give ETAs”.

If you are a Linux user we would love to hear if the Linux version of Greenpois0n worked for you, if not let us know what problems you are experiencing, please remember to state which Linux distro you are using and which Apple device and version you are trying to jailbreak.

    Hi everyone,

I just used greenpois0n (rc4) to jailbreak my iPhone 4 and noticed that during the process the program called the Apple-Homepage (Little Snitch popped up, that's why I noticed).
    It connected to this server:

When I denied the connection, the jailbreak failed. I tried again, allowed the connection – jb worked fine.

I didn't find anything on this so far – do you know anything about this?

If you have Mac. Download Ubuntu, burn it to a CD or DVD and install it using Boot Camp. Or if you have a windows disc, use that. And Limera1n is out for Mac. I have iPod 2G MC model, so I'm just waiting for PwnageTool 4.1 coming out 10/17/10. Make sure if you install windows using Boot Camp you put the Mac OS X install disc in and install the Boot Camp software on Windows.

Are you telling me that you have no access to any of the windows machine? Come on people. There is a thing called VMware that you can have; windows, ubuntu and Mac running on a single physical box. Slow, but will the trick. Anyway, your machine must supports virtualization.

Not everyone has a copy of Windows lying around, nor does jailbreaking work well in a VM. It worked for me using Boot Camp, but VM is not recommend.

      Stop being a tool.

doesn't work in vmware – usb issues
        boot camp works fine

Just got it installed on my Ubuntu box this morning. Works great.

Hey man. I am not being a tool. I am nice. There is a saying, when you help others, you are helping yourself also. No hard feeling there dude.

when are they going to release iphone 3g 4.1 jailbreak because redsn0w doesnt work

    • iWant Mac

I have a friend in which i jailbroke his 2nd Gen non mc and it worked fine. Make sure your doing it right, sometimes you may select the wrong firmware or if you were on 4.0.1 or 4.0.2 or 4.0 then you would have to update and lose your unlock.

  • Christopher Browne

I tried it; it declined to do anything with my 2nd gen Touch, which is presumably the correct behaviour.

    Running Debian/Testing on x86_64.

  • Dan Dart

    "Lunix distro" -> "Linux distro"

  • iWant Mac

Oh my god, I want the Mac version. I hope by the time the mac version is out it will be able to jailbreak iPod 2G MC model because that's what I have.

    • iEatCheese!

me too! yah ipt2g mc! 🙂

      • iWant Mac

Same! I can't use redsn0w because it doesn't work. I was wondering if it would work on 4.2 beta 2. I have, but I'm not a developer.

I am dying for a mac release. Yesterday I just tried to update from 4.01 to 4.1 on a 3GS and it froze while updating and froze while even trying to restore. Had to take it to the Apple Store

    • acet3chnician

Wifi Sync is stalling the restore process, i also went to Apple store, but ran across the Wifi Sync issue on the web. Uninstalled it on my lappy and the restore went fine.
