Gran Turismo 7 cars from PS2 era

We were initially expecting Gran Turismo 7 to release at some point this year after Polyphony Digital boss Yamauchi Kazunori said that the best scenario was to release in 2014.

However, we have since learned that Gran Turismo 7 won’t make a 2014 release after all. When speaking at the recent Goodwill festival, Yamauchi has now said that they are still in development:

“We are working on the title, I don’t think it’ll make this year!” – was what he said when he spoke to Eurogamer.

Perhaps more importantly though, it looks like Gran Turismo 7 will still feature all of the classic cars that you grew up loving on PS2 with previous editions.

When talking about what kind of Gran Turismo 7 cars will be in the game, here is what he said in response:

“I doubt that we’ll be throwing away the standard cars. Each car has its own fans. So I think we’ll hang on to the archive.”

While this is good news for hardcore fans, it may be bad news for those that want to see completely new cars in Gran Turismo 7, rather than the developers reusing old assets from previous games.

We have seen the backlash of this before with previous releases and it will be interesting to see just what extent these GT archives mean in relation to Gran Turismo 7.

If you are a fan looking to buy the next game, let us know if you have any fears about Polyphony Digital reusing old assets from PS2. Would you have a problem with this or not?
