Google Plus One: Turn on today for friend recommendations

A few days ago we reported that Google Plus One was launched: today we will discuss how to turn it on for friend recommendations. For those of you who have not heard of the service, it is a little like Facebook Like and Twitter Recommendations. We believe that this will be the new way of how Google will start to rank your website for search results.

If you have signed up to Google +1, then you will see a button before the title of an article, which would mean that a friend would have recommended it. However, you need to make sure that this feature is turned on first. This does show how important social networking is, and is just the latest in a long line of services with a sole purpose of connecting people.

To turn Google +1 on you will need to have an account running with Google first; only then will you be able to see the results appear next to a search result. If you have an account but still cannot see, then just go to Google Account Settings then to Personal Settings and there will be an option that says +1 on non-Google Sites. You then need to make certain that it is enabled.

Joining Google Plus One is easy, as all you need to do is join the experiment, which you can read more about here. For more details Google has an informative video for you to watch here.
