Google Nexus 7 price drop thanks to release of 32GB

It wouldn’t come as a surprise to see Google’s Nexus 7 drop in price for lower storage options, which is thanks to more space always being welcomed and a new 32GB Nexus 7 about to see a release date. The 8GB and 16GB options were launched around the same time and we’ve taken a look at the prices in local UK stores, and also had some feedback from PR readers in the US and UK in regard to the Nexus 7 price.

In the UK we’ve seen a number of retail stores pushing price cuts, and this includes the likes of Comet and Curry’s (under the same group as PC World). You can now pick up the 16GB Nexus 7 from just under £180 in the UK, which is a 10 percent price drop and further signals the new 32GB model arriving pretty soon. Any larger storage or new Nexus 7 model would obviously devalue older/smaller storage options.

Tesco are a popular UK store for electrical goods and at the time of writing they’re pricing the 16GB Google Nexus 7 at £189, which is still a little cheaper but could soon drop further once the 32GB model is released. The United States is telling a different story to the UK, which might not see a price drop right away but some stores are making mistakes with the 32GB release date.

We previously reported that one store already sold a 32GB Google Nexus 7, which had been priced at $249 and is equal to the current 16GB price. We’ve also seen how the 32GB Nexus 7 will seem like a better buy when compared to the iPad mini, which is due to people looking at specs rather than so-called “build quality“. Nexus 7 vs. iPad mini, where do you stand with these two options?

You can expect prices to drop soon for the 16GB Nexus 7 in the US, just like in the UK, so if you spot some price cuts then share the details in the comments. If you were thinking about purchasing a cheaper 16GB Nexus 7, then we’d recommend waiting a little longer to see how the 32GB is priced.
