For iOS users that have been waiting for a new Google Maps update, then you will be happy to know that one was made available for download a couple of days ago. Google Maps version 4.4.0 came with a number of new features and improvements, although the main ones of interest are full screen support and improved Voice Search.
Most Google Maps users have been asking when the app would get full screen support for iOS, so at least they have finally been given what they want — even if it has taken this long. If you have yet to update, then we advise you to do so in order to take advantage of those new features.
In order to get full screen to work you will need to touch an empty spot on the map, and you should then see it change to the full screen mode.
Speaking of those other features, you will now be able to see transit line colors on your map for when you get transit directions. You can also filter your searches by Zagat-rated restaurants, although this will only work where the service is available.
If you type or tap the mic and say the command directions to your desired place you will notice that the results will show quicker. Apart from that Google has made several bug fixes, although they do not list what those are.
Have you downloaded this latest version, if so what are your first impressions?
