Google allows some to create public events on Maps

Some Android users will notice they now have the ability to add public events on Google Maps. If you have the new feature, you’ll be able to create an event for a get together, party, or another type of public event.

There’s even details on Google Maps Help showing how to do it, which can be done by heading to Contribute tab, Events then Add A Public Event. It also states, “Feature might not be available in some regions“.

You can add a description to your event along with links and categories. The help doc also shows you how to edit and delete public events on Maps, although we’ve heard there’s been a few teething problems already. It’s new, so expect regular updates as it rolls out to the UK, USA and rest of the world.
