Google Maps 4.1: Download update for Android mobile devices

For those of you using Android 1.6+, you will be pleased to learn that you will now have access to Google Maps 4.1, thanks to an update last night. This new version of the popular tool adds support for multiple accounts along with a cool looking Latitude widget.

Other new features added to this updated version of Google Maps is reimagined search results — instead of having to search through a huge list, all you have to do is use your finger to grab the page and then swipe left or right for your search results.

Engadget learned from Android Central that this update was long overdue — let us hope that Google Maps 4.1 is as good as they say it is. There is only one way to find out though, and that is for smartphone users to go ahead and download the application now.

The Google Latitude feature is all part of embracing social networking, as this allows your friends on sites like Twitter and Facebook to know exactly where you are — only if you want them to know of course. Find out the latest Motorola Droid on Verizon: 2.1 update features and fixes.
