Google I/O 2010: Android 2.2 Froyo Release Date

We have some exciting details for Android fans now, as it looks like Google is now certain to unveil their latest Android 2.2 Froyo operating system to the world at their upcoming I/O event.

As reported from Phandroid, a rather amusing story has emerged thanks to TechCrunch, as they sent one of their writers over to the Google campus to try and get some photos of their super-secret Android Froyo sculpture.

But it turns out that they were unsuccessful, as Google threatened to call security – obviously keeping the sculpture under lock and key until I/O kicks off later this month.

We have had some very interesting Froyo leaks during the last few days, most recently one which suggested that Froyo handsets would be able to create wireless hotspots.

Hopefully I/O has the answers. Let us know your thoughts on this. Will we get a release date at the event?
