Although Google+ is nowhere near the popularity of its projected rivals Facebook and Twitter, the early signs are met with positive results. The numbers that have signed up to the service have been nothing short of impressive, and Google expect to carry on shocking us with bigger numbers with their Google+ for Android application that has received an update.
So far, Google+ has amassed over 20 million users to its social networking website, which is why Google are staying on top of the game with their Google+ for Android app, which has had quite the update to say the least.
In this version (1.0.5), Google+ for Android has significantly improved the reliability of notifications, as well as adding Huddles, which can be started from a persons profile. Group huddles can also be started from a circle profile. You can also hide 1:1 huddles, click links and URLs in that huddle, and an auto complete improvement has been added when you add someone to an existing huddle, meaning you can add them quicker without having to type the full name.
Google’s devs have also added the function of clicking a +mention, which will take you to that persons personal profile, much like Facebook and Twitter use now. Stream posts can now be individually shared and “_add to circle” notifications are shown in bulk rather than separate entities.
Obviously, the application is still in its infancy at the moment, but we are promised that Puneet Soni, the product manager for Google Plus, will be releasing frequent updates to the application to make it more user friendly for everyone.
If Google want to make Google+ a success, they are going the right way about doing it. Within days of making Google+ available to the public, the Google+ application was already out meaning that more people will use it on the move. Lots of social interaction comes from mobile apps like these, such as Facebook, Twitter, Tumblr, and many others, and we are quite sure that Google will be right where they want to be in the social networking field if they carry on getting things like this just right.
You can download the application via the Android Market on your mobile device, or by clicking this link.
