Another day, another Google Doogle. This one is a bit special though, as it celebrates the 12th anniversary of the search engine giant. What better way to do it, then to share a birthday cake with Google’s millions of users.
As reported from TheTelegraph, they have identified that the birthday cake painting was created by Wayne Thiebaud, an 89-year old artist from Los Angeles.
Unlike other previous doodles, there are no special features which interact with users as they click the logo, instead it’s a simple cake with a birthday candle replacing the letter ‘L’ in the word ‘Google’.
The artist is apparently famous for painting other cakes in his paintings, most of which originated in the 1950s and 1960s. If you’re interested in reading more about him, you can find a complete bio on Wayne Thiebaud here.
What are your thoughts on this ‘Pop Art’ style birthday cake? Do you prefer these simple doodles to the interactive ones?
