When it comes to predicting the future of huge companies like Google your guess really is as good as ours, let’s face it 5 years ago if you said to us Google would have successfully launched its own mobile operating system, web browser and social network we would have thought you are mad – however sure enough Android, Chrome and Google+ are now household names – but what’s next?
Well we are not going to sit here for hours and predict the entire future of Google, however in this post we will instead look into whether Google will continue with their line of phones after the Nexus Prime arrives. This was a question which TechnoBuffalo’s Jon Rettinger answered in a video which can be see here.
Jon starts by pointing out that the Nexus Prime may not ever see release, as it has not yet been officially announced – however that said he thinks it will probably arrive in October boasting a super-fast dual-core processor, a 4.6-inch display and Android Ice Cream Sandwich – but what next?
Product-Reviews agrees with pretty much everything Jon has to say on the matter, he says that it makes sense for Google to continue their line of Nexus smartphones as it sets a standard for other Android smartphones to follow – which in turn gives devs reference hardware to design their applications for. This basically means that if an app runs on one of Google’s Nexus smartphones it should work on subsequent devices from other manufacturers.
Later on in the video Jon talks about Google’s Motorola Mobility acquisition and how that may affect things, he makes quite a bold prediction and thinks that we could see Motorola manufacture a Nexus smartphone each year.
