Gmail sign up to airtight email

Next time you login to Gmail to check email, you will notice some changes and the fact that Google has decided to improve security of your information. Newcomers that sign up to the Gmail email service can rest assured knowing their messages will now be encrypted over HTTPS, which helps in stopping people trying to find out what you are sending by hacking that information during its transfer from person-to-person.

Within the last couple of days, Google announced this change with the Gmail login and email connections that use a HTTPS encryption. This will mean those that send or receive an email through Gmail will benefit from additional security features.

Gmail sign up to airtight email – it is worth noting that even if you use a public Wi-Fi connection at an Internet cafe, or use the Gmail login from a tablet, smartphone, or computer, you will be protected from anyone listening in on your messages as that move between Gmail’s servers and your device.

You could use HTTPS previously, but users had the option to turn this security connection off until this week. Google point out when you sign up to Gmail in 2014, you can expect a HTTPS-only service and this counts for all existing users as well.

Did you ever turn off HTTPS when using Gmail? If so, you won’t be given the choice anymore now that Google has made Gmail HTTPS only.

Some blogs claim that this move comes after the NSA has been secretly tapping communication links, although these rumors arrived online through Edward Snowden, so we’ll leave Product Reviews readers to debate that information.

It is good to see Google continually supporting their Gmail email service and increasing security to both when you login and send messages. We’d also love to hear about any new features our readers would like to see next, so leave a comment below.

The Gmail app recently updated to version 3.0 on iOS and we’ve seen the benefits of Streak for helping find out when someone looks at your messages.
