Glimpse of Amazon Kindle Software Update

Today we can report that an Amazon Kindle software update will be available soon, which will have some nice new features for owners to enjoy.

The update will give users real page numbers, public notes, and new layouts for newspapers and magazines, according to an article on PCMag. Public notes will allow you to publish notes made on books to the Web. Anyone who owns a Kindle will be able to share their thoughts on books, Amazon said in a statement “readers everywhere — can opt-in to share their thoughts”.

This feature will be turned on via the Amazon Website, where you can see the thoughts of people you follow, and much more. The page numbers will list the page number on your Kindle, which corresponds with the actual page number of the printed edition. Page numbers have already been added to thousands of Kindle books, which include the top 100 best-sellers.

The success of e-Readers like the Kindle meanwhile is increasing the pressure on traditional book shops, according to a report by Rob Lever (AFP). Borders Group which has 500 US stores is trying to restructure its debt, but some quarter’s fear bankruptcy or a sale ahead. E-book sales are said to have more than doubled each year for the last three years.
