Gibbs Sports Amphibians had to issue a recall today for two of its models, the Quadski and the Quadski XL, which are the one-seater and two-seater respectively. There are said to be 320 affected vehicles in this new recall, although a remedy is already available.
The reason for these two model recalls is due to the fact that the handlebar could fail while these amphibious vehicles are in operation. If this were to happen, then the operator could lose control of the vehicle, which would have serious consequences on the road or water, considering how fast this can go while traveling on water.
To find out if your model is affected, then you will need to see if their HIN numbers are between US-GSA601J213 through US-GSAJ1048C414 for the single seater and US-GSAJ5001J213 through US-GSAM5203H415 for the two-seater.
We are pleased to say there are no reports of injuries, although there have been three reported cases where these handlebars broke during tests, and one person sustained a neck injury.
If you head over to the CPSC website you will find more details, although they do tell us that the remedy requires you to contact your local Gibbs Sports Amphibians dealer, and to stop using the affected models immediately.
