We have a quick heads up for those of you who are playing Destiny after the new Destiny 1.1 patch which went live just hours ago. The big difference to the game is a major change in the way that weapons are upgraded, with players now no longer needing Ascendant Materials to upgrade Destiny weapons to max stats.
Instead, you are going to need to find Exotic Shards in Destiny instead and we wanted to show you exactly how to get Exotic Shards in Destiny in case you are having difficulty.
As the Destiny 1.1 patch notes suggest, there are two main ways in which you can find Exotic Shards in Destiny. One way is to simply buy them from Xur every weekend for 7 strange coins, but the easiest way is to dismantle an existing Exotic Weapon in your inventory which you don’t need any more.
You can see the exact process of this below, by watching the video which we have included. The player in question dismantles the Truth and gains some weapon parts and an Exotic Shard for doing so.
Then, you can head to your other Exotics and check which weapons are eligible for an upgrade. In this case it’s the Suros Regime and upgrading it to max damage will give you a total damage output of 300 compared to 287 – so it’s well worth your effort.
As you can see, this is a fairly straight forward process but we wanted to highlight it anyway directly after this patch. Let us know how you acquired your Exotic Shards in Destiny.
Which weapons have you bid farewell to?
