It comes as no surprise to us to learn that Gears of War 3 was so popular during this year’s Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3 2011), considering it is one of the most anticipated games of 2011. However, what appeared to generate the most buzz was the new and improved Horde 2.0 mode.
As Riley Little from the gamerant.com website reports, the Horde 2.0 has been improved so much that it is almost like a completely new game mode. For example, as players increase their kill total they will start earning money, which they can then use to buy fortifications on the map.
A great part of the Horde 2.0 mode is the fact that teammates can not only earn their own money to use how they wish, but they also have the option of giving money to other teammates that are perhaps in need of some funds. There are many different items available including ammo, fences and the Silverback mech suit.
Many of the items — apart from the ammo and the Silverback mech suit — can also be upgraded. For example, turrets can be equipped with shields and fences can be turned into laser fences. Players will also find that they can buy themselves back into the game after dying as well.
Besides having a new and improved Horde 2.0 mode to play, gamers will also be provided with a brand new weapon — the Butcher’s cleaver. We have embedded the preview trailer below this post, so you can check out the Horde 2.0 mode for yourself. Are you looking forward to this mode?
