Gears of War 3 designer criticizes Sony’s Dual-Shock controller

We have some interesting news to bring you now, especially if you’re wondering why Epic’s Gears of War franchise hasn’t appeared on the Sony PlayStation 3 yet. It seems as if their main designer for the game doesn’t like Sony’s dual-shock controller believe it or not.

When we read it, it seemed like a very random comment to make, especially in the context of his interview with IndustryGamers, but that’s Cliff Bleszinski for you. During his interview, he revealed that there is ‘zero’ chance of Gears of War ever appearing on the PlayStation 3 due to their relationship with Microsoft, but it appears as if there may be deeper reasons behind this.

Here is a portion of his interview with IndustryGamers when asked about previous comments by Epic boss Mike Capps about moving over to develop on the PS3 at some point:

“It’s one of those things that would be exciting news. Hopefully DualShock would get tweaked a little bit, but anyway, enough about that.”

The last time we checked, Sony’s Dual-Shock controller looked fine to us, just like the Xbox 360 controller. Bleszinski obviously has a few issues with the pad though, so we wonder what he is referring to exactly when he states that it needs to be tweaked. Is he talking about the button layout, motion controls or something else?

Could this be the sole reason that they haven’t brought the Gears of War franchise to the PlayStation 3? – Probably not. But it’s a bit of a head-scratcher isn’t it. Cliff is a regular Twitter user though, so maybe he’ll clear it up for us soon. What are your thoughts on his comments?
