GDC 2010: Final Fantasy XIII ships 5 million worldwide, director speech tomorrow

Square-Enix has just announced that Final Fantasy XIII has shipped over 3 million units in the US and Europe combined, bringing total worldwide sales so far to over 5 million. Not bad for a days work eh?

As reported from VideoGamer, Square-Enix managed 2 million units in Japan when it was launched exclusively on PS3 on December 17th. Who knows what the total could be once first week sales are in – Square could have a record-breaker on their hands.

It will be interesting to see whether Final Fantasy XIII director Motomu Toriyama mentions initial sales figures during his speech at GDC tomorrow. We’ll have to wait and see.
