Garmin StreetPilot Navigation Comes to Apple iPhone

There may well be plenty of free navigation apps available for the Apple iPhone, but many users might prefer to purchase GPS apps from more well known companies such as TomTom or Garmin. Apple iPhone 4 owners have had access to the TomTom GPS app for quite some time now.

However, according to a recent article by Philip Berne over at phonescoop.com, Garmin has recently launched the StreetPilot GPS app for the iphone. The Garmin navigation app offers spoken turn-by-turn directions, as well as enabling users to look up addresses with ease.

As explained by Garmin over on the businesswire.com website, the StreetPilot iPhone application includes many of the features that are available on Garmin’s standalone GPS systems such as free traffic alerts, which enables the driver to avoid road closures and traffic accidents etc, and lane assist.

Another great feature with the Garmin StreetPilot app is the fact that it integrates with the drivers’ address book and iTunes music library, meaning that the driver can easily navigate to addresses from their contacts list and access and control their iTunes music while on the move.

You can read more about this app via the itunes.apple.com website. The app, which requires Apple iOS 3.0 or later, is now available to download for a price of $39.99. Do you like the sound of the Garmin StreetPilot app?
