GPS companies are doing their best to persuade people to buy their standalone devices rather than pay for an optional extra and have a sat-nav installed into a new car. One way they are doing this is the the addition of lifetime map updates, and some even live traffic for life. This is just what the Garmin 2555LMT nuvi GPS system offers. It’s a little annoying because I just missed out on lifetime traffic on my TomTom, and even tried to contact them to try and get them to offer the service to me without having to pay for the subscription each year, but I had no luck.
The Garmin nuvi 5″ model is part of the Advanced Series and comes with some pretty good features, most of which are far better than the built-in options car manufactures offer. The specs include 5″ dual-orientation touchscreen, maps of North America, which are free for life, as is traffic, Lane guidance, 5-inch touchscreen, intuitive interface, 8 million points-of-interest, Point-to-point navigation, and so much more.
We heard from several of our readers that bought one of these GPS systems were having several issues and need to learn how to perform a full system reset, as well as some of them wanting to repair a faulty component but were having issues putting it back together.
