It looks like the rumors were true after all. You will probably have heard that Samsung were rumored to be offering an official Galaxy S5 Android 5.0 Lollipop update before the end of the year.
Now, it looks like Samsung are delivering on that as we have confirmation that some Galaxy S5 owners in Europe have already started to receive an Galaxy S5 Lollipop OTA update.
As far as we’re aware, Galaxy S5 owners with the model SM-G900F are eligible for this update and so far, owners in Poland have received the update. This isn’t uncommon to start with one country though and it means that all Galaxy s5 owners in Europe could get their Lollipop update before Christmas.
It’s a fantastic surprise from Samsung and especially impressive considering that not all Nexus devices have received their Lollipop update yet.
What we don’t know yet though is the likely Galaxy S5 Android 5.0 Lollipop US rollout date. It wouldn’t be the first time in which US owners have had to wait last after Europe so it could be the same pattern emerging here.
If you do live in Europe though, it’s worth checking Samsung Kies to see if the update is available outside of Poland. We have a feeling that Samsung will be working as we speak on rolling out to other EU countries so it is looking promising.
You can see confirmation that the update has gone live here. Let us know if you are installing right now, or if you are still waiting. Are you impressed with Samsung’s quick timing on the official Lollipop update for Galaxy S5 users?
